The good in me sees the good in you!

The good in me sees the good in you! ✹

Hi, I’m Shan!

There’s no easy way to sum up all of the hats I wear as a multi-passionate, free spirited (a little bit rebellious) human, but in a nutshell, I strive to use my gifts and creative passions to spread love and make a positive impact.

Growing up, I felt like a jack of all trades, but a master of none. I just couldn't find that one thing that felt like it was meant for me. As a purpose-driven achiever with the mindset that I could have, be and do anything I wanted, I found myself drained and confused.

I used to think that I was indecisive, but now I see that I’ve just never been afraid to change my mind.

I’m human, and as a human being who’s learning and growing and changing everyday, it  makes a lot of sense that my goals and dreams would grow and change too, right?

Ambition, confidence and a desire to do good in the world have certainly served me well in life, but it wasn’t until I shifted my focus from what I wanted to do to who I wanted to be and how I wanted to feel, that I started to manifest anything that felt significant.

At the end of the day, all I really know for sure is that sharing my gifts with the world feels good, so I’ve made it my mission to live my dharma so that I can inspire the people I meet to live theirs.

Wondering how i got here?

Here are some highlights…

Way back in 2010, I graduated from Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12~a school for the performing arts where I studied piano, dance, and theater! I went on to receive my bachelors degree from Duquesne University in 2014 with a specialization in Broadcast Journalism.

Thanks to my internships with Duquesne’s athletic department, the Pittsburgh Penguins NHL Hockey Team and KDKA-TV News, I developed the skills to land an on-air job right out of college.

I spent the next two years in small-town West Virginia working as the morning anchor, reporter, and producer for a local TV news station. I quickly realized that my “Dream Job” wasn’t quite as glamorous or fulfilling as I’d imagined, so in March of 2016, I took a leap of faith and moved home to Pittsburgh with a desire to find more joy and purpose in my life’s work.

I spent a year living in my moms attic, bartending at my favorite local pub and nannying cute kiddos while I recovered from two exhausting years of 60 hour work weeks on the night shift. With the extra time and a new lease on life, I couldn’t help but document the magic I was seeing around me!!! I brought my camera everywhere and soon enough, people were hiring me to film and photography their milestones!

I’ve blossomed into what I like to call a “serial entrepreneur” and continue discovering new ways to earn a living doing things I love.

I founded my very first business, Shannon Chavez Production in 2016 shooting wedding films with a simple goal: to tell positively uplifting stories.

In 2020, I opened a photography studio in Pittsburgh’s Mt. Washington neighborhood and listed it the following year on AirBnB, so that I could share my space with others and make some extra income when I wasn’t using it myself.

My husband Alex and I love traveling so now we even rent out our own Pittsburgh home when we’re away.

Since then…

We believe everyone deserves to live life on their own terms. That’s why we love teaching the lessons we’re learning as free-spirited entrepreneurs on a mission to have as much fun as possible while we serve others with our gifts!

Becoming an educator…

In October 2022, I earned a double certification as a Spiritual Life Coach and Dharma (Soul Purpose) Coach from The Dharma Coaching Institute so that I could learn how to help people harness their personal power. That fall, I opened the doors to my coaching practice. By 2023, The Good Coven and Happy Hippie Foundation PGH had both taken off and I was hosting community gatherings on the regular. In 2024, I self-published a book I’d been working on for nine years and released a handful of accessible self help tools and other products so that I could reach more people.
